While exploring the beauty of Boyce Thompson Arboretum, I captured a stunning close-up of a vibrant cardinal, showcasing its brilliant red feathers and sharp features—a perfect miniature version of our beloved Arizona Cardinal’s mascot, Big Red.

My photograph captures a honey bee (Apis mellifera) collecting nectar from a vibrant purple flower. The bee's body is covered in fine hairs, and its characteristic black and golden-brown striped abdomen is clearly visible. Its delicate, translucent wings are slightly blurred, likely in motion as it hovers over the petals. The bee’s legs, covered in pollen, are gripping the flower as it feeds. The background consists of blurred purple petals, adding depth and enhancing the bee as the focal point of the image. The photograph highlights the intricate details of the bee’s anatomy and its essential role in pollination.
