Those looking to escape the triple-digit temperatures in Arizona's southern regions can head north for a guided hike at Lyman Lake State Park every Saturday of the summer.
The park is hosting the ranger-led hikes on the Petroglyph Trail at 9 a.m. every Saturday. Arizona State Parks and Trails says in a news release that in addition to fascinating archaeology, the trail offers incredible views "from rolling hills and high desert to the sparkling shores of the lake."
The trail is a quarter-mile and includes a mild climb. The petroglyphs along the route were made by prehistoric ancestors of the Hopi people.
After the hike, participants can stay to chat with the ranger and learn more about the area. Lyman Lake also offers air-conditioned camping cabins, along with campsites on the beach.
Admission to Lyman Lake State Park is $7 per vehicle, and there is no additional fee for the guided hikes. For more information, visit the park's website.
